[Editor’s note: This is more of a recap and heartfelt thank you from the staff JetJam than an actual play-by-play report from the weekend’s racing. -Ed.]
What an absolutely amazing first race weekend we had! First and foremost, we would like to thank each and every one of the riders for coming and supporting JetJam. There were several riders that came from very long distances, even if for just a two day to race with JetJam. We can’t thank you enough for making these long journeys to join us on Easter weekend. Without you, we wouldn’t have a reason to do this. Secondly, to an incredible staff, your hard work and dedication has paid off. You all proved to be a true asset to JetJam.
Robert Sand, our Race Director and Kary Austin, the promoter, both did a fantastic job in managing a race of this magnitude. Thank you, also, to our awesome food vendor Coach T’s BBQ (Lake Havasu), Every Kid Counts Charity (Phoenix, AZ) for making us some awesome food and keeping us well fed! Justin James, Bree Eisner, the Gagnon Family, and the Retro Racing crew, we really appreciate your effort in putting on the Easter service and the cutest Easter egg hunt we have ever seen.
With that being said, we ended up with 142 entries on Saturday and 103 entries on Sunday. These are awesome numbers. We were able to have some nice full lines. We had many new riders and many returning racers. On Saturday, we enjoyed watching Dustin Motzouris and David Redinger battle it out in the Pro Ski GP1 class. Congratulations to all the winners this weekend:
Overall Pro Ski winners Brock Austin of Utah/Lake Havasu – in 1st place, Preston Matzdorf of Lake Havasu, 2nd place and Kole Cramer of Lake Havasu, 3rd place. And a huge shout out to Coy Curtis for setting a record for being the youngest person to back flip a jet ski! Team 10, IPD Graphics, Kommander Industries, Pro Watercraft Racing, TC Freeride, Leo King and Retro Racing were all on hand for our opening race. To see all the results please visit HERE.
We want to give a special thank you to TC Freeride of Paso Robles, Ca. for sponsoring the Junior prize money. That payout went to 1st place Julian Beaumer, 2nd place Coy Curtis, 3rd place Sebastien Girello. Thank you to Devas Bling (Stacy) of Lake Havasu who sponsored the Women’s hole shot prize money and Hot Shots Paintless Dent Repair (Keith Jacques) of Las Vegas, NV for sponsoring the Junior hole shot prize money.
Thank you also to Gallagher’s Pub for hosting our Rider Appreciation Dinner again this year. As usual it was fantastic food! River Rat Motorsports out of Lake Havasu City, AZ also came down to the race site and set up a booth for test rides on the new Kawasaki SX-R 1500. These sponsors are making great incentives for the racers. This is one of the reasons that racers keep coming back.
JetJam had a special film crew, Steve with Westside Media Group/WCWCC Riders Club, on site Saturday and Sunday filming and interviewing numerous riders. They will be making a short commercial for JetJam in the coming weeks. Please stay tuned for that to be released.
Last but not least, we would like to thank all our sponsors for supporting this industry. We look forward to an awesome season with you all.
