15-Year-Old Unscathed After PWC Explosion

A journalist from Kark.com based in Garland County, Arkansas reports that a 15 year old boy is lucky to come out unscathed after his Jet Ski exploded. The incident occurred around noon on Saturday June 16th. The boy was trying to enjoy a day on the water at Lake Hamilton when an unfortunate and scary incident occurred. The young man’s machine blew up as he attempted to crank it. The explosion was so powerful, that it actually blew him into the water. Luckily, he was able to swim to shore on his accord.

A medical helicopter arrived on scene to assist if necessary. Officials with the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management also responded for a possible fuel spill.

In an updated story posted to Lake Hamilton Fire and Rescue Facebook page, we learn a little more about the incident. The post states that the young man was injured and transported. However, there is no information as to the extent of his injuries. After he was packaged and on his way, booms were deployed to contain the fuel that had leaked into the lake. Moreover, a construction crew was called to remove the watercraft from the shallow waters near the shore.

The cause of the explosion is still unknown. We will let you know if and when we come across further details. We would certainly like to learn what caused the ski to explode. We are happy that the young man is okay.
