Supercharged Yamaha owners know that horsepower comes with responsibilities — and an expensive supercharger clutch is one component riders would rather protect than replace.
When a rider abruptly releases the throttle, unwanted pressure can remain trapped within the intake system. A blow-off valve gives that pressurized air an escape route, helping reduce the stress placed on the supercharger clutch.
GreenHulk PWC Performance Store is now offering the newly revised WORX Blow-Off Valve Kit for Yamaha’s supercharged 1.8-liter engine. Designed for both stock and modified machines, the kit combines added protection with the unmistakable sound many performance-minded riders want from their Yamaha.
The centerpiece is a larger, lightweight blow-off valve designed to disperse more air when the rider lets off the throttle. WORX has also fitted the valve with a new trumpet-style outlet, producing a louder and more aggressive release of air.
In other words, riders should have no trouble hearing the valve do its job.
The lightweight construction reduces the amount of weight hanging from the silicone hose, which can help extend hose life. The valve can also be disassembled for cleaning and maintenance rather than treated as a sealed, disposable component.
WORX supplies the components required for installation, including the blow-off valve, a replacement silicone BOV intake hose, one meter of vacuum hose, a 1½-inch hose clamp, T-fitting and 10 zip ties.
The valve’s vacuum line connects to the factory MAP line with the included T-fitting, making this a relatively straightforward addition rather than an extensive intake-system overhaul.
Most importantly, the kit is not limited to heavily modified race builds. WORX developed it for use on stock and modified Yamaha 1.8-liter platforms, giving recreational riders an option for relieving intake pressure before pursuing other performance upgrades.
