They streamlined the process of obtaining a new jet ski operator’s license and renewing your old one. You can even go online to get one. That’s how easy it is.

Abu Dhabi enjoys its thriving maritime community and will do what takes to keep it running safely and smoothly while everyone enjoys the water. Abu Dhabi Maritime has taken over the task of getting people licensed and this is what they had to say about it:

“Abu Dhabi Maritime will assist members of the public and commercial marine service providers with the registration of new jet skis, license renewals, and booking technical inspections,” said Abu Dhabi Maritime in a statement.

They even streamlined the process of inspections by letting the owner pick a location to get their ski checked out. All you have to do is go to the Abu Dhabi Maritime’s website for renewal and to schedule an inspection and they will come to you. This hassle-free process saves time and ensures that all PWC are seaworthy and well-maintained.

This is like a breath of fresh air after seeing how some waterways in Australia and the United States treat jet ski riders. We like seeing jet ski enthusiasts getting some love for a change.

A new year springs new potential for a return of some awesome products as a surprise post sprang up yesterday morning on Facebook from Cargo Wave, LLC owner Paul Thomas hinting at the possible return of the industry’s only proven PWC trailer (meaning a sealed cargo trailer that you can tow behind your watercraft). Thomas’ post is very welcome as a recent resurgence in interest for the Cargo Wave trailer has sprung up, particularly from “long hauler” long distance travelers who are looking to bring quite a bit of gear with them. Of course, the trailer cannot be used as an extra fuel supply (although a few shadetree mechanics have tried against recommendations) or in extreme offshore conditions without major modifications.

The electric watercraft maker Candela sources €24 million in investments from EQT ventures to scale the production of foiling vessels.

Candela’s hydrofoil electric boats reduce energy consumption by 80% compared to conventional planning watercraft. They are the first company to attain an all-electric range at high speeds at sea. Candela is leading the electric boat market to stabilize emissions produced by coastal shipping worldwide.

The company currently offers the best-selling electric boat lineup with now plans to build on candelas proprietary Hydrofoil technology. Allocating financial backing led by EQT Ventures with participation from existing investor Chris Anderson, the curator of Ted talks.

This newly allocated funding will be used to triple research and development, along with investment in production automation, and scale to produce a competitive number of electric vessels to compete in the overall boat sales market.

Check it out; the US west coast has a new racing series beginning next year. 2022 kicks off the Full Throttle Watercross racing series and they want you to get in on the action. Full Throttle has classes for types of personal watercraft and all skill levels. All ages and genders are welcome to compete on the new circuit and local talent from different are encouraged to attend events. No matter your skill level, this is an opportunity for undiscovered riders to see how they stack up against some of the best racers in the world.

Full Throttle WaterX has a tentative schedule for 2022, with 6 races to gain points and one non-points event that includes, dual slalom, drag racing, and freestyle competition. That sounds like a good time! The inaugural races kick off in March at Havasu Landing Resort and Casino.

Registration opens in February for the first event. This gives you time to fulfill the requirement of becoming a ProWatercross member. Protective gear is required as well and if you’re under 18, you must be accompanied by an adult or have a notarized release form.

Their “about” section on their Facebook page sums up who they are: “Full Throttle WaterX is a personal watercraft series that is owned and operated by racers FOR racers. It is not often that consumers get to see behind the scenes of the actual testing and development process of new PWC performance products. Thanks to WatCon’s John Zigler, that process has been documented in a new video published to YouTube, as he and his team conduct final prototype testing of the new RCJS Billet Tri-Scoop intake grate for the 2021 Yamaha SuperJet.

The video covers the late stage of the testing program, after many revisions of the scoop. The three prototypes on display for this test are all of a similar style, so it can be assumed the process effectively honed previous scoop candidates down to this converged design. Within this style, the three versions have different blade angles, sizes, depths and positions. It is the right combination of parameters that Watcon is looking for, to hit the sweet spot of hook up, speed and handling and braking.

Testing begins with the standard scoop, with both objective speed runs and subjective handling / hookup / braking testing as a baseline control. Then the prototypes are run through the same tests. Despite the first prototype actually producing the greatest speed, it was ultimately the second iteration that ended up being selected for production as it had the best overall performance. This version was only around one mph slower than the fastest candidate, but hook-up in choppy water was improved, as was braking performance.

Visually the design differs significantly from the factory scoop, which has three longitudinal rails and no side blades, only a small centre blade mounted fairly far forward.  In contrast, the RCJS unit has only two longitudinal rails, a much larger and further rearward centre blade, and the addition of side blades to direct more water into the top and sides of the impeller.
