We are super stoked about this video from Emmanuel Williams. He operates the YouTube channel, iBelongOutdoors and produces stellar content. This video is the first in a 3-part series featuring his 112-mile trip to the Bahamas. Williams exudes such a good vibe that you can’t keep from smiling and getting pumped and planning your own long trip. The video showcases the versatile Fish Pro and how comfortable it is when cruising long distances. It makes for a great watercraft for going on expeditions or strike missions while doing fishing along the way.
Williams was riding the Fish Pro Trophy, which is outfitted for a long ride and James was on the Fish Pro Sport, also set up for a long ride. Both men were ready for adventure when they got underway from Stuart, FLA. A support boat accompanied them as well. Williams described the trip as they cruised across the beautiful glassy blue water. Williams spotted a bunch of balloons and pulled them out of the water. He was not pleased and popped them and stashed them on his ski. He provided a short PSA requesting that we grab any balloons we see and dispose of them.
They were soon underway again and at the 60-mile mark, they refueled the skis and took a break for water. 100 miles into the trip, they spotted their destination and an approaching storm looming in the distance. They hauled ass in the rain to get to the dock and to tie off the skis. Williams was stoked to make the 112-mile trip to the Bahamas. Check out the video for some spectacular drone footage and killer water shots. We enjoyed this video and think you will too.
Easily one of the biggest surprise additions to the 2022 Sea-Doo lineup was BRP’s expansion of its singular Fish Pro into a trio of machines: the Fish Pro Scout (based on the GTI platform); the Fish Pro Sport (the standard ST3-based model); and the Fish Pro Trophy, a fully-equipped, top-of-the-line PWC fishing platform unlike anything offer by the OE’s before. To kick off the fishing season right, Sea-Doo rushed a pair of 2022 Fish Pros to its New Zealand ambassador, Andrew Hill who wasted little time putting the two machines to work.
Obviously, the Trophy would grab anyone’s attention first as it did with Andrew, who played a pivotal role in the early development of the Fish Pro program. Prior to his involvement, Hill was a consummate PWC angler, racking up over 10 years of experience directing fishing expeditions aboard Yamaha WaveRunners. Hill made the jump to a heavily-customized GTX 155 with its own 7-inch GPS fish finder, navigation lights, dual battery harness and ersatz cooler system. It didn’t take long for Sea-Doo to catch wind of Hill’s exploits and the rest is history.
The 2019 Fish Pro set the groundwork for what would become BRP’s newest segment of Sea-Doos; the Trophy takes everything that the first Fish Pro established and raises the bar higher, with a live well, deck washing system, massive split-level cooler, a Garmin GPS and sounder system, it’s own deployable and dedicated anchor, a dual battery harness, full smart phone integration, multiple rod holders and positionable mounts, and of course, the industry’s first swivel seat.
Hill promises to illustrate every detail of his Trophy over the coming weeks so enjoy the video below and subscribe to his channel for new content coming shortly.
In possibly one of the most explosive freshman years ever in the history of Pro Runabout racing, Tory Snyder has achieved a feat only accomplished once before, and that by one of the sport’s most acclaimed racers, Chris MacClugage. The Bradenton, Florida native and son of multi-championship winner Troy Snyder, charged into the 2021 season aboard two Snyder Build, Judge Motorsports-tuned Yamaha SVHO WaveRuners and took home a shelf-full of national and world titles.
A month earlier, Snyder fought back fierce international competition to earn his first Pro-Am Runabout Stock world championship at the 40th annual IJSBA World Finals in Lake Havasu City, AZ.
Snyder wrote in a trending post, “This one means a lot to us. This wouldn’t be possible without these 4 guys [Troy Snyder, Tim Judge, Dean Charrier and Michael Bouchard] They built me an unbelievable ski.”
For Tory’s final race of the year, the 18-year-old capped off his undefeated year with two national championships in Pro Runabout GP and Pro Runabout Stock.
Snyder told The Watercraft Journal, “[What an] unbelievable weekend in Naples; I took the win in Pro Stock. I’m the first person since [Chris MacClugage] to win Pro [Runabout] Stock in Havasu and Naples in the same year.”
For this past weekend at the Pro Watercross World Championships, Snyder piloted a Yamaha GP1800R SVHO with a Dean’s Team tune and several “goodies” from Judge Motorsports that Tory joked as being “classified” – fair enough.
Tory concluded, “I couldn’t have done it without my dad and mom, Snyder Built, Judge Motorsports, Dean’s Team, Yamaha, JetPilot, and Saints of Speed. Thank you!”
Check out Nathan Joy’s 270 nautical mile ride on his Sea-Doo Fish Pro. His trip was much more than the usual fishing trip we associate with the Fish Pro. Joy set out to explore the Buccaneer Archipelago, which is a group of 1,000 islands off the coast of Western Australia. He packed his Sea-Doo was fully loaded with gear for fishing, camping, and filming. It was rounded out with a full-size cooler packed with food and drinks on the back.
Joy launched his Fish Pro from Cygnet Bay and headed to Cockatoo Island. He was met with a strong east wind shortly after getting underway. The waters calmed as made his across King Sound and to Cockatoo Island. He clocked 50kms on that first leg.
Joy had some killer adventures on his journey. He met up with a tour boat and went SCUBA diving, caught fresh fish for dinner, and did a lot of exploring. The area is absolutely stunning as was the amount of fuel he carried! He had 190 liters of fuel strapped on his ski and another stashed on a boat where he camped.
He spent five nights at sea and traveled 270nm/500km. He lost one drone and a GoPro while out there. The clip is great and our only gripe, is that Joy isn’t wearing a PFD. We are all about safety and do not condone going out on the water without a life jacket.
International commerce has all but ground to a halt with the logjam of COVID restrictions, shipping containers being stalled and rerouted, cargo vessels being delayed months to be unloaded, and a shortage of truck drivers. In fact, the situation is far more tangled than that, but this isn’t the time or place to try to unravel that mess. Rather, we’ve got some very good news to share.

Looks can be deceiving. The pint-sized Yamaha EX packs a surprising amount of cargo space, whether it’s for large tube of sunscreen or a beach towel.Sea-Doo ST3-based models have awesome convenience to access the bow storage compartment (as the handlebars lift up with the top console), but can’t carry as much as you might expect – unless you buy a Fish Pro or the giant cooler that goes on the rear deck.
The Kawasaki Ultra platform that’s been around since 2007 has by far the most storage of any personal watercraft on sale today. But that advantage only applies to the non-supercharged model, because for 2022 the supercharged Ultra 310s have a new top deck. Kawasaki says the 2022 Ultra 310’s class-leading storage has been “completely rethought.” They got that right. It’s now smaller. But at least it’s much more usable and still one of the best in the market (with storage behind each of the front fairings).
To take some of the guesswork out of which model has the most room to carry stuff, we’ve gone through the manufacturer websites so you can save your data – and perhaps your sanity. As you can appreciate, this took ages to compile. In one instance, one of the manufacturers (Kawasaki) contradicted themselves on storage space for the same craft (2022 Ultra LX non-supercharged), depending which website you searched around the world.
We’ve just gone with the total number for the US. We weren’t able to find a number for the non-supercharged Ultra’s space under the seat. It’s not in the owner’s manual either. If you find out let us know. Meantime we hope Kawasaki reads this and can clarify the numbers of the old Ultra top deck (splitting the bow, glove box, and underseat compartments).
Other takeaways? It might not look like it, but the latest Yamaha FX series has a great level of storage capacity and probably deserves more credit than it gets. And incredibly, a Sea-Doo Fish Pro Scout has more total storage than a full-size ST3-based Fish Pro Sport/Trophy. Check out our list and see for yourself how each model stacks up.
Obviously those of you in Florida, along the Gulf Coast, Arizona and California aren’t terribly worried about having to winterize your personal watercraft for several months out of the year; but to our friends in colder climates, the process of shutting down your PWC for a long hibernation is pretty heartwrenching. Part of that process of course, is tending to your watercraft’s battery – and there’s some pretty easy tips for keeping your battery both well-charged as well as preserving its longevity.
Keep It Dry Most all new PWC come with a AGM-style battery. An AGM or Absorbent Glass Mat battery is still a lead acid-type battery, but doesn’t require refilling with water (ie. “sealed”). And while it is a sealed battery, it is still susceptible to corrosion and other damage from moisture. First, make sure that the battery itself is clean. That you don’t see any mold or moisture beading on the sides or pooling beneath it. Next, check the battery terminals themselves for corrosion. Scrape with a wire brush and coat in dielectric grease.
Keep It Cool Batteries are very sensitive to temperature. Never allow your battery in temperatures below freezing (32ºF) or above 120º F. Freezing temperatures can not only sap the charge from your battery but injure its ability to hold a complete charge in the future. Electric battery heaters are available for purchase if you have to keep your PWC outdoors. For those with the room in their heated home garage, either bring your ski indoors or at least the battery itself.
Keep It Charged The most important tip is to keep it charged. Letting your battery drain dead injures the cell’s ability to accept, hold and deliver a charge – rendering it useless. If you’re keeping your PWC in a heated garage, some choose to forego winterization and simply fire the up the engine and let it idle for 30-45 seconds every 2-3 weeks. This allows the engine to heat cycle a little as well as supply the battery a bit of a recharge. If the ski is winterized, an automatic trickle charger will supply the battery with a charge without overloading it.
You’ll find greater detail on these tips and several more in the video below, beginning at the 9:10 mark:

Per Kspeed, “Our ride plate will make the ski faster in all conditions. It’s designed for top speed gains in flat water over the OEM ride plate, and improved tracking and control in rough water.” To the observer, the new Kspeed Race Spec plate is conspicuously designed, featuring longitudinal “control lines,” as Kspeed calls them, and a two-step riding surface.
“The control lines make the ski track straight,” Kspeed explained. “[It lets the Ultra] slice through the wash of competitors skis with reduced chine walking. The two-step design reduces purposing, allowing the ski to hook up instantly and drive forward off the line quicker.” The aggressive shaped plate is designed to replace the need of the pump wedge while complimenting Kspeed’s intake grate and sponsons for those seeking peak performance.
And like the other items listed, the Kspeed Race Spec Ride Plate uses all of the OE mounting locations, and retains the factory reverse functionality and speedo wheel. Best of all, the ride plate is in stock and ready to ship out this week. Click the hyperlink to place your order today.
