A little over a week ago, The Watercraft Journal published the good news concerning the race course-prowess of the 2021 Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 during its debut at the Pro Watercross World Championships held in Naples, Fla., Oct. 29-Nov. 1, 2020. Not only did Sea-Doo racers pilot their new RXP-X’s to a first and third place podium finish, but also earned the machine its first World Championship – slightly over a month since its public reveal.

Sea-Doo ambassador and racer, Anthony Radetic captained his Millennium Yellow RXP-X 300 to a stellar 3rd place finish in the Pro-Am Box Stock class, proving to the world the capabilities of this new musclecraft. Prior to the event, Radetic had to quickly prepare his Sea-Doo for the race course by giving it the “RIVA treatment” including a MaptunerX reflash, Pro Series sponsons, new RIVA valve spring retainers and a few other goodies that pushed his new machine to a blistering 84mph.

And clearly, the RIVA treatment did the job, as Radetic’s bright yellow Sea-Doo was visible by all of those in the pack several lengths behind him. RIVA Racing had worked closely with Sea-Doo during the development of this new RXP-X and had a full lineup of products ready for the public once the machines were made public. The year 2020 will definitely go down in history. The worldwide pandemic was a force to be reckoned with as it fed its furious energy swings not only into world health but also the worldwide economy, job market, and US election.

Chances are your local Yamaha dealership does not have the exact WaveRunner you’re looking for on their showroom floor; or much of anything on their floor at the moment.

With the riding season coming to an end for many regions, now is the time that dealers are ordering the new 2021 models and preparing for the shipments to arrive shortly.

It is also a perfect time to talk to your sales associate if you will want a particular model, package, color option, or accessory added on.  With the current watercraft craze and low inventory situation, it is definitely a good idea to place a pre-order, especially if you have specific requests.

Your dealer may only be getting one or two units with your specific options and if they are already pre-sold, then you will either be left with a unit lacking your approval or otherwise be left high and dry.

Can’t find a new 2021 Yamaha SuperJet at your local dealership yet?  Maybe instead you want to give that tried and true 2-stroke a fresh new face for next season. Well in this video, freeride world champion Mark Gomez walks us through one of the best modifications you can make to your ski which is to put a new traction mat kit on it.

This is the easiest way to improve the lackluster factory mat or to simply replace that worn out mat that has been on your ski for years.

For this video, Gomez is replacing the factory mat on his new 2020 SuperJet and the process will be identical if you have a 1996-2020 model year Yamaha SuperJet. The particular mat being installed is Hydro-Turf part #HT-751 and is shown in black molded diamond, with a 9mm plush under pad and 2-inch corner kick wedges.

This mat is being installed using the recommended contact cement adhesive method however you can also order the kit with a peel and stick adhesive, although that method might not hold up as well. So get those scrapers out, roll up those sleeves, and follow Mark along in the video below.

When we first learned about the all new Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 for 2021, we here at The Watercraft Journal asked the question whether it could rise up to the challenge of the closed course.

Well folks, the results are in and the answer is a huge yes!  It rose up to the challenge and took home a world championship win at its first-ever debut race.  We’d definitely say that is a huge success by Sea-Doo and the factory team racers.

A big congratulations to Erminio Iantosca who took home the Pro Runabout Box Stock World Championship and Anthony Radetic who won third place in Veterans Stock aboard this revolutionary new Sea-Doo platform.

We never fail to be amazed by the images that come from the Jet Ski Club Stavanger. Club member Audrius owns and operates North Pix Media, a professional photography and video service company, and from what we’ve seen, is well worth the money. Audrius sent me this video and these images from the club’s most recent trip, which included some amazing footage from The Fjord Flier, hang glider pilot. Audrius wrote:

“Everyone has their own hobbies and activities that make them feel truly alive. We set out early for a 110 mile jet ski trip to meet the hang glider pilot aka TheFjordflier. Passionate about flying. A man is living his hobby and using every good weather window to do what he loves. Most of the time he flies in the early morning just before the thermals pick up. To get perfectly still weather for a flight is really rare at this time of the year. He drove 80 miles from the city to “Lysebotn” to reach one of his favorite launch spots.

“About the place called Lysebotn. Lysebotn sits at the end of Lysefjord – one of the pearls of Fjord Norway – and gets many visitors in the summer on the car ferry or tourist fast boats from Stavanger city. The village is located in a very isolated valley that is only accessible by one road or by boat. When the narrow mountain road is closed during the winter, for seven months of the year the village is accessible only by boat. It is most alive from June to mid-August, with base jumpers from around the world coming here to jump off “Nesatind” and “Kjerag”.

“The tourist season has ended in October and there is no activity in the valley. TheFjordflier launched from the low spot close to the road.
